As a teen, it is tempting to just stay indoors on my phone/laptop and watch television or stay on social media all day. In the moment, it is enjoyable but at the end of the day, I feel tired and unsatisfied, as if I have just wasted my whole day. This is not an ideal lifestyle – even with all the convenient amenities available to us. From a young age, we’re taught that we need to exercise to keep our bodies in tip top shape. For me that means going outdoors! There are many opportunities the world and nature provide us, and it is up to us to take full advantage. If we open our eyes to the beauty and adventure of the great outdoors, we will reap countless benefits such as a healthy mind, body, spirit, and overall wellbeing.
The human body is composed of roughly 60% water, and it is vital that you replenish it. That is why on average, it is recommended that teens/adults drink at least 64 ounces of water a day. Many can agree that water is the best beverage needed for hydration and to keep you healthy. Sports drinks are usually loaded with sugar and are not meant for activity less than an hour. Personally, my thirst doesn’t feel quenched until I drink a big glass of pure and clean water, just as nature intended. My favorite way to make sure I drink enough water is to always carry around a bottle of water with me that I can refill. And if you think plain water is “boring”, you can always spice it up by adding fruits or mint to it.
Whether you’re exercising at the gym or outdoors, getting some holiday shopping done, or chowing down on leftover Halloween candy, I assure you staying hydrated will make a big difference in how you feel. So if you haven’t already done so, grab a cup of some of Charlotte’s finest tap water and drink up – your body will thank you!
